CF Clinic at LHSC
What They Do
The Cystic Fibrosis Program is a London, Ontario based medical clinic that is part of the London Health Science Centre. The CF Clinic is located at Victoria Hospital where their staff provide care and support to adults and children with cystic fibrosis. The doctors and nurses at the clinic provide a variety of services to the patients and their families to ensure that a high level of care is maintained.
The Situation
The CF Clinic was utilizing an inefficient paper medical record system; clinic staff recorded all patient information and ran reports manually. It was difficult and time consuming to compare visits and check patient progress. This led to the need for a new, more efficient system.
The Fix
Akira systems provided the CF Clinic with OPES – the first version of akira complete, an electronic patient tracking system eliminating the need for paper based filing system. Better organization of patient tracking ability to run reports and analyze patient records better.
The Benefits
The CF Clinic now is able to focus more on patient care because of time savings that are a direct related to the use of OPES. Staff has the ability to view multiple visits at once, compare the info and understand patient progress which has resulted in improved patient care.
